A New Year…means A New Beginning…Are you sure???

We are in full festive mode…Christmas is gone…and I had a blast with my friends…I made Wreath from paper & ribbon…for my college function 🙂

There two things which I love about Christmas…first is mouthwatering Plum Cake…I love Plum cake so much I think I can leave Chocolate Cake also for once…another is Santa…we all know it’s a myth…still I love to believe in fantasy that he will come and fill up my sock with loads of happiness and blessings…

New Year is around the corner…and most of us are too excited…for partying hard…drinking hard till we vomit…dancing hard till we are out of breath…laughing hard till tears roll down our face…you guys remember two years ago in December 2012…world was about to end…but I guess we made it…and soon it’s going to be 2015…

Everyone is busy with their New Year Resolution…some of my friends asked me too ‘What’s unique on my resolution list this year?’…I said I don’t know…and their expressions were like she is nuts…did I say something wrong???

I have never believed in making resolutions…so what if it’s a New Year…and who said there has to be a Resolution for every New Year…why do we have to wait for a whole year for a new beginning

If you feel that something needs to be changed in my life or I need to get rid of this awful habit of mine…why to wait for an entire year to end…why we can’t make up our mind and list down the resolutions which are a must for becoming better human …why can’t any day be a new beginning

I don’t remember that I have ever followed any of my New Year Resolution for more than a month…by the end of first week, I start cheating and skipping few resolutions…and by the end of January I will misplace the whole list…

Over the years I understood…you can’t bring change until you are mentally prepared for a change…unless you have decided for sure that you need to stick to the plan…no day, no week, no month, no year, no human can bring change in your life until you want to make a difference…

I know many of you will jot down your New Year Resolutions…but this time make a difference…at the end of your list…add one more resolution: STICK TO RESOLUTIONS

I hope this New Year…finally brings a new beginning for all of you…till next time…

What happened when my smartphone went missing???

“Shit…already it’s 12, I have to be in Nasik by 6, how much time will it take to reach Nasik Govindbahi?” I asked as I stuffed luggage in the taxi…

“We can reach Nasik by 5 Sir, if we will take Saputara Road, it’s good and scenery is very beautiful”

“Yeah yeah whatever, I don’t give a shit…I want to be in Nasik by 6, got it” he nodded and pumped the car

On the way to Nasik…Govindbhai kept on babbling about the beauty of something something…but I didn’t hear a single word…until our car stopped with jerk…smashing my head hard on the roof…I got down from the car and asked “what happened Govind Bhai?”

“Puncture” he showed me the punctured tire

“Fix it” I ordered while lighting a cigarette

“We don’t have a spare tire, need to find a garage”

“You gotta to be kidding me, seriously I need to be in the Nasik by 5, I have a very important meeting at 6, do you understand that Govind Bhai” I shouted

“I know that Sir, but we don’t have any option, there’s one shop at the exit of Saputara, we can get help from there” he suggested

“Really, and how far is that?”

“Around 5 kms or so”

“No way, Govind  Bhai”

“Look Sir we don’t have option, talking is of no use, I will go and get it fixed… it will take around an hour or so, till then you enjoy the view”

I wanted to kill him then and there…but I knew that would be of no use…I thought of canceling my meeting…as I slipped my hand in the coat…I found there was nothing…I checked other pockets as well and to my horror my smartphone was missing…I rushed back to the car and checked every inch of it…but it was nowhere in sight…I went through my luggage but it was not there too…I realized I lost my precious…

I was sitting on the rock boiling with anger…cursing every possible living and nonliving thing for my lost phone…suddenly I noticed the valley at the other end of the road…I got up and crossed the road…the view of the valley was breath taking…thousand shades of green were splattered on the ground below and the river was in full flow…clouds were looking like a white cushiony fluffy bed…some of them were so tempting that I felt like jumping…

I turned around…two mountains were forming the shape of a shiv ling…might be my imagination…the grass was of luscious green color…and dewdrops were sparkling like diamonds…atmosphere was so calm and serene…there was no noise no pollution…the air was so fresh…rainy season made everything alive and vibrant…I sat on the ground and kept enjoying the view…it took two hours to fix the flat tire…

When Govind Bhai said we can leave…I didn’t want to leave…as I sat in the car I realized what was missing from my life…why my marriage was on toss…why I was so frustrated and depressed…in last few years I didn’t take any break from my life…I was running behind money trying to fix everything…trying hard to get settled in life…I was roaming like maniac…

I got fruits of my hard work also…money, house, car, status, Kriti as a beautiful life partner…but I didn’t get time to enjoy any of this…to appreciate the beauty of what I had…what Kriti did for me…it’s being so I haven’t said how beautiful she looks when she woke up every morning next to me…the delicate curve of her waist is like that mountain…I murmured…

We sat together, we ate together, we slept together…but I was always on phone…talking to some stupid client or boss…or chatting with old buddies or making some useless ppt for next meeting…what the hell was I doing with my life…do I really want all of this…I leaned and said

“Govind Bhai, as soon as you see any PCO, please stop the car…I need to make an urgent call”

“Haanji Sir”

Half an hour drive later, he figured out a PCO…I ran and dialed the number…I was chewing my nails waiting for someone to pick up the phone…on second try she picked up the phone “Kriti”

“Kartik, where the hell are you? And where is your phone?…I am trying to reach you since three hours…are you alright…something happened”

“Yes I am fine…Kriti, now listen to me” I so wanted to kiss her at that moment

“What Kartik”

“I love you… and I missed you so much”

“Kartik, are you drunk?”

“No I am not…will you pay attention to what I am saying…call your office and inform them you won’t be able to come for next 15 days…and call Asif, my tour agent to book four air tickets for Chandigarh”

“Really for what?”

“We are going for a family holiday…you me and our parents”

“Kartik you have gone crazy or what”

“No do as I say…I will be home by tomorrow…love you”

“Love you but will you tell me what happened…why are you planning holiday all of sudden…you said you can’t take a leave for my cousin’s wedding next week and now ”

“Honey, just do as I say…we have next fifteen days for all these kind of talks…gotta go love…laters”

“Sure thing”

I paid the charges and gave address of the hotel to Govind Bhai…I slouched in the back seat…thinking about Kriti ‘You won’t believe what happened sweet heart, when my smartphone went missing’…and I am glad that it did go missing…

PS…Unedited version…this post is part of this week’s WOW PROMPT

A day without VOICE…

Have you ever spent a day without talking to anyone….

Have you ever kept quite for an entire day…

Have you ever imagined your life without your voice…which represent your thoughts…

What would you do…if your mind is full of thoughts…but you dont have voice to say it out loud…

What would you do…if no one can listen to you…

What will you do if you just can’t speak…

Have imagined a day without your voice…

Its being more than 24 hrs..that I started losing my voice…and now my voice is totally gone…due to this throat infection…I am finding it so difficult to manage things without my voice…

No one can listen to me…no one can understand what I am trying to say…docter said I have to keep mute for couple of days…to get my voice back…you gotta be kidding me…

How would I do that…I am so talkative…well I do keep quite at times…but when my doctor asked me to do it intentionally…I am in full fatak talking zone…

I think I should rest now…ciao

NATURALISM…Is it the future of education???

Last week I got an opportunity to visit one of the international school of my city…that visit changed my attitude towards nurturing kids of tender age…

The only thing which makes that school different from others is…they follow NATURALISM…they believe a child should learn from his natural environment rather than mugging up syllabus…in today’s fast paced life this concept is really difficult to digest…

As you enter the premises you can feel the Aura…I was greeted by two 2nd grade students Krish & Suhani…they showed me different sections of the school…but the shocking part for me was not their age but their fluency in English…most of the students in that school belonged to traditional families…their parents don’t know the single word of English but students were fluent in English…

Kids from 2 & 3 grade were using words like disparity & personify…can you believe that???…I can’t…I am commerce student still I don’t remember that I have ever used these two words in my life…

I also got a chance to attend their classes…and one thing that I observed…every class was alive and happening…every student was participating…there was eagerness to learn something new…which is missing in most of the students nowadays…they want to mug up and give exams but they don’t want to learn…but Riverside emphasizes on learning…teachers are trained to generate interest in every student…

I was sitting in grade 3…and teacher was showing video of their recent visit to slums…teacher asked ‘what’s the difference between you and them’…one of the student said ‘They don’t have toys and we have lots of toys, there is disparity’

Teacher again asked “What else did you notice?”

Students replied “We are of same age but their body weight and height were less”

Teacher “Why?”

Students “They don’t get healthy food as we do”

After that their teacher connected the entire video from three different viewpoints…social, moral & science…I have never attended this kind of classes…where teacher is connecting one subject from other subjects…students were learning moral and also what kind of diseases occur due to lack of nutrition’s and there are different sections of society…

Their teachers believe in law of readiness…until a student is ready to move further…they don’t…I mean who does that…there is no set syllabus, there is no uniform…they don’t believe in bookish knowledge…they are given opportunities and circumstances to learn from natural surroundings…teachers are not pushy…there is no formal sitting arrangement…they have chairs, cushions, poufs…students can sit anywhere they want to…though teachers make sure by the time they complete their schooling…they are at par with other board students…

In higher classes, students have freedom to color their hair or get a tattoo…they are given chance to shape their personality…even teachers are allowed to come in casuals…they can flaunt their tattoos and be themselves…and carry on their identity…there is no fakeness…in other schools, teacher are expected to dress and behave in certain way…but here environment was so friendly…students talk to their teachers openly about their love life’s and personal problems…

I spent 5 hours in the school…talked with their teachers…they have changed the definition of leaner & teacher…they broke the conventional methods of teaching…from child psychology point of view…we can say “there is all round development of the child” …which is missing in other schools…

Of course there has been debate…whether their teaching style is reliable in long run or not…so much freedom can make students arrogant…they will not respect their elders…they might suffer from attitude problem…they might not able to cope up with competitive world outside…they might find it difficult to find a suitable vocation…there are so many questions hanging in the air…

I think till 6th or 7th grade we can follow Naturalism…it can develop eagerness to learn and moral ethics which is missing in most of the kids…after that syllabus should set for higher classes…in order to prepare students for competitive world…

About issue of Freedom…you can guide them counsel them…every action have some reaction…positivity and negativity would depend on the nature of your action…well this is my opinion…

What’s your opinion…do you think Naturalism should be adopted by other schools around the world…or there should be amalgamation of both conventional and naturalism methods of teaching…would really love to hear your thoughts…
